I am trying to find information on Roger Bell born in Lumley, Co. Durham about 1860. He married Mary Ann Ogle in 1880. I have the 1901 census details of them living in Heworth, but the ages given don't correspond to those on their marriage certificate. I have checked the St. Catherine's Index and there are births for Roger Bell registered in Chester-le-Street in 1861 & 1862. If age in Census was right he was born 1859/60; if age on marr. cert. was right he was born 1860. Also in Census there were 3 yrs difference in ages - on certificate there is only 1 yr difference. I am confused and need help! PS = His father was John Bell & they were both coal miners. |
