Potterbill Report 7 Sep 2008 18:23

Geo.Watson Anderson, his father (d.1899) and grandfather were auctioneers in Brechin, Angus from 1855 to 1899
George was bequeathed in his father's will (1901) and I quote "....and to deliver to my son George Watson Anderson upon and only when he shall obtain a Captain's Certificate my gold watch and chain"
His siblings where, Margaret Hunter Anderson b.1879; John Anderson b.1880; Helena Cathrin Anderson b.1882.
In 1901 the census shows that the family were resident at 42 City Road Brechin, Angus with the exception of George - did he go to sea?
In 1904 their mother Watson Alan Anderson (yes Watson is her Christian name!) died Sept.1904 at Meadowbank Crescent Edinburgh from supposed phosphrous poisoning, her death being reported by her son John, but as she was left a life rent of the City Rd. Brechin home was she only visiting Edinburgh?
John was described as a cabinet maker in the 1901 census.
After the 1901 census and their mother's death certicate I can find no trace of any of the family.
Are any of the individuals of this faimily familiar to you? Can you help?
